James Finlayson biography
Born in Larbert, Stirlingshire in 1887, James Henderson Finlayson started his career as a tinsmith then became a theatre actor before going to America and eventually trying his luck in the nascent Hollywood film industry. Nowadays he is best remembered as a supporting player in many Laurel and Hardy films, however he had much success earlier as part of Mack Sennett’s roster of comedians before moving to Hal Roach studios.
